Brian MISHARA

University Professor

Founder of the Center for Research and Intervention on Suicide and Euthanasia (CRISE), renamed following the adoption of the Quebec law on medical assistance in dying, Brian Mishara has worked as director of CRISE since 1996. He is a professor in the psychology department of the University of Quebec in Montreal since 1979. An internationally renowned researcher in the field of suicidology, Brian Mishara has written several books, notably on the issues of aging, medication consumption and the suicide and euthanasia. Brian Mishara is one of the co-founders of the Quebec Association of Suicidology (which has since become the Quebec Association for Suicide Prevention), was president of the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention as well as President of the International Association for suicide prevention (IASP) from 2005 to 2009.
